Come ho già scritto da qualche altra parte, dopo 1300 (correggo, 1400) post, è difficile trovare qualcosa che non sia già qua sopra, credo sia stato saccheggiato tutto quello che c'è in rete, col risultato che sembra tutto già visto e tutto nuovo contemporaneamente... Vediamo se questo lo è, nuovo...

Originally assigned to the 410th BS 94th BG, 28/5/1943 (named Gorgeous Hussy )

Transferred to the 412th BS 95th BG, Framlingham, 6/6/1943 and then to Horham 12/6/1943.

It was lost over Brunswick, piloted by Pearson, crashing at Sreimbeke, Germany.

Three crew were killed and seven taken prisoner, the aircraft, by this time had the name “All American”.

This aircraft was initially assigned to 91st BG, Bassingbourn, 15/6/43.

It was transferred to the 334th BS 95th BG on 16/6/43.

It was sent for salvage 6/1/45.

Dovrebbe essere originale anche questo, peccato le foto di questo sito siano di pessima qualità.

Sono belle comunque, anzi le preferisco, in quanto sono vere testimonianze storiche!

42-97797 B17-G ( Full House )

 

Assigned to the 412th BS 95th BG, Horham 8/4/1944.

Piloted by Hannum, it collided with 42-37879, over Brandenberg 16/8/1944. It crashed at Rondorf

with six of the crew killed and four captured.

 

42-37879 was from the 334th BS and piloted by Williams. Four of this crew were killed and five captured. The aircraft was called “ Wrinkled Belly Baby”

At present we do not have a photo of this aircraft.

Quoto. Il mio appunto sulla qualità delle foto riguarda solo la loro "visibilità" che non permette di ammirare bene i lavori, in alcuni casi veramente notevoli non solo per l'ironia o l'originalità, ma anche per la qualità artistica.

This aircraft was initially assigned to 511th BS 351st BG, Polebrook, 26/5/43.

It was transferred to the 334th BS 95th BG on 16/6/43.

It crashed over Schweinfurt, 14/10/43, piloted by McPherson.

All crew were taken prisoner.

Questo primo esempio di "nose" art ce lo siamo dimenticati? O è già stato postato e me lo sono dimenticato io per alzheimer incombente?

No Intruder non l'abbiamo assolutamente dimenticato, lo postai io tempo fa ed è ritratto in una fotografia stupenda, una delle foto (A mio avviso) più belle della nostra amata Aeronautica!

Assigned to the 335th BS

The aircraft went missing in action whilst returning from Keil 4th January 1944, piloted by Milward.

It was ditched off Bawdsey, Suffolk with all crew rescued.

Assigned to the 336th BS 95th BG, Alconbury, 29/3/1943, moving to Framlingham 12/5/1943.

It was battle damaged over Lorient 17/5/1943, crashed landing at RAF Exeter.

All crew returning to duty.

Assigned to the 305th BG, Chelveston 15/6/1943.

Transferred to the 334th BS 95th BG, Alconbury 16/6/1943, then to Framlingham and on to Horham.

Missing in action over Oldenburg, it crashed at Barnsdorf, Germany 6/3/1944, piloted by Mailman.

Five crew were killed and five taken prisoner.

Originally assigned to the 335th BS 95th BG, 25/5/1943 at Framlingham, then to Horham 15/6/1943.

Transferred to the 388th BG APH Knettishall, April 44 and to the 803rd BS 16/5/1944, it was lost over Oldenburg 1/1/1945.

N122CA (cn 4827) Poor ElliMay's had better days but as you can see she's still smiling! This DC-3 was built back in 1941 & will hopefully fly again someday when she has more that just a cabin & cockpit with nice nose art. I wonder why she's been put down on her belly? Her registration is on a Falcon 20 bizjet in an older shot.
