E Alenia difende il programma ....

 

 

It remains unclear what the Air Force will do with the 16 G222 aircraft that have been already been delivered to Afghanistan, or how Afghan forces will provide airlift for troops after the Alenia contract ends in March and before the first two C-130s arrive in Afghanistan later this year.

Alenia defends its work on the program, and says the twin-engine G222, an earlier model of Alenia's C-27J cargo plane, is one of the safest, most durable cargo planes available.

An Alenia spokesman said the company was in talks with U.S. lawmakers about the Air Force's decision to back away from the G222 deal, and what could be done to ensure that Afghan forces had continued airlift capability until the C-130s arrived.

He said the program was on budget and meeting or exceeding requirements at this point after an admittedly rocky start. "We're flying missions every day," said the spokesman.

"We're not disputing the Air Force's decision to bring in C-130s; that's their prerogative," said the spokesman. "We just want to see if there's a way to continue providing airlift until those other planes get there."

Sarebbe anche curioso sapere qual'è quel paese dell'Africa centrale che ne ha ricevuto uno.

 

Alenia Aermacchi says the C-27J has so far been ordered by 10 customers, with the latest being Australia and an undisclosed nation from central Africa. The company has so far delivered 54 of the 91 aircraft ordered, with more than 60,000 flight hours amassed and the type delivering an average availability rate of over 70%.

In occasione dello "Air Warfare Symposium" dell'AFA, tenutosi la settimana scorsa a Orlando in Florida, si è tornato a parlare del destino dei C-27J dell'USAF ....

 

 

Airlift Working Group Findings Coming ....

 

The Air Force soon will release the findings of its Intra-Theater Airlift Working Group, said Secretary Michael Donley last week at AFA's Air Warfare Symposium in Orlando, Fla.

The working group is charged with determining from where the Air Force will draw the 32 tactical airlifters that the Fiscal 2013 defense authorization act directed the service to maintain on top of the force structure that it had planned.

While Congress gave the Air Force the option to choose either C-130s, C-27Js, or a mix of both, Donley has said the service does not anticipate modifying its plan to divest its C-27Js, meaning the 32 airlifters likely would all be C-130s.

Among those 32 airframes "are a number of [C-130] aircraft that have center-wing-box challenges, age-out, and structural challenges," Donley told reporters following his Feb. 22 symposium address.

"We planned to retire those aircraft so . . . center-wing-box repairs are not funded," he noted.

In sostanza .... l'USAF non intende cambiare opinione e, radiati gli "antipatici", ma nuovi, C-27J, manterrà in servizio 32 vecchi C-130 .... alcuni dei quali, già destinati al ritiro, presentano problemi strutturali la cui riparazione è tuttora priva di finanziamento ....

 

Questo si che è un bel modo di utilizzare i quattrini dei contribuenti ....

Air Force Announces Intratheater Airlift Decisions ....

 

Air Force Reserve Command's 911th Airlift Wing in Pittsburgh will retain a force of eight C-130Hs through Fiscal 2014, announced Air Force officials in a release on Wednesday.

This is one of the service's moves to meet the congressional mandate to maintain a force of at least 358 intratheater transports in Fiscal 2013 by retaining 32 additional airplanes—all legacy C-130s—that the service had intended to retire.

"Although we were required to retain aircraft only through the end of this fiscal year, we extended the aircraft through Fiscal 2014 to allow time to complete additional analysis and to coordinate with our stakeholders," said Air Force Secretary Michael Donley.

The Air Force will reassess its force structure as it builds its Fiscal 2015 budget proposal, states the release.

In addition to Pittsburgh, which was set to lose its C-130 flying mission, the Air National Guard's 109th AW in Schenectady, N.Y., and 139th AW in St Joseph, Mo., will each retain two extra C-130s as backup assets through Fiscal 2014.

And, these ANG units will each keep one extra C-130 in backup status: 123rd AW in Louisville, Ky.; 130th AW in Charleston, W.V.; and 189th AW at Little Rock AFB, Ark.

So will these AFRC units: 440th AW at Pope Field, N.C.; 910th AW at Youngstown ARS, Ohio; and 914th AW at Niagara Falls ARS, N.Y.

In Fiscal 2014, the Air Force said it would restore AFRC's 934th AW in Minneapolis and its eight C-130s.

The fate of the fleet is to go into storage with the 309th AMARG at Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ, from where they will be offered to the other services or to governmental agencies such as the Foresty Service or the Coast Guard.

Che vuoi che ti dica .... si vede che al "Re.S.T.O.G.E." hanno reinventato l'acqua calda ....

 

Ma .... non sarà mica il caso che tu sia affetto da quel particolare disturbo che negli States chiamano NIH Syndrome .... cosa che, in questi ultimi anni, ha causato non poco danno all'industria aeronautica del nostro paese ?

Guarda l'articolo e' avaro di particolari.

 

Se si vuole sostenere che l' AMI abbia inventato il jammer questo e' una sciocchezza colossale.

 

Se invece tale sistema adottata tecnologie in termini di frequenza, portata, modulazione e resistenza alle contromisure....etc nuove e mai impiegate prime allora il discorso e' diverso. Ci troveremmo di fronte ad un nuova evoluzione del concetto di jammer.

The US Air Force has released what it calls a "sources sought synopsis survey" to find a contractor to build Alenia Aermacchi C-27J Spartan twin-engined tactical transports.

"The Air Force Life-Cycle Management Center [AFLCMC] at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, is conducting market research to identify potential sources that possess the expertise, capabilities, and experience to manufacture and deliver C-27J aircraft," the document reads. "Responses to this survey will be used to influence the programme's acquisition strategy."

The document makes it clear that the USAF is only conducting the market survey at the behest of the US Congress. "The Mobility Directorate [AFLCMC/WL] is contemplating procurement of C-27J aircraft, in accordance with Congressional language that states 'The secretary of the Air Force shall obligate and expend funds previously appropriated for the procurement of C-27J Spartan aircraft for the purposes for which such funds were originally appropriated'," the document reads.

The USAF terminated its C-27J programme in an effort to save money in its fiscal year 2013 budget. The service also says that it will dispose of the 38 aircraft that are currently in service with the Air National Guard. Air Force leaders testified earlier in the year that the fate of those C-27Js will be decided before the end of this year.
