Beh, i Greyhound attualmente non fanno i tanker: il ruolo lo ricoprono ili F-18E con pod buddy-buddy.

In futuro è previsto però un kit per gli Osprey, ma al momento sembra solo per i Marines, mentre la US Navy sta a guardare.

Il punto è che si adottano soluzioni sensate e la Cina di oggi non è il Giappone del 1945.

Può costruire molti più missili antinave di quanti aerei ha a disposizione, più veloci e più difficili da individuare e una volta individuati più difficili da colpire.

The US Navy’s commander of Naval Air Forces is sending a dire warning to Congress this week over the rampant cannibalisation of its fighter fleet could threaten the service’s ability to go to war.

In order to get its fighter squadrons to carriers, the navy is transferring hundreds of parts from its non-deployed squadrons, decreasing those aircraft’s ability to respond to the call of duty if needed.

Huntington Ingalls Industries announced today that its Newport News Shipbuilding division has completed the inactivation of the aircraft carrier Enterprise (CVN 65).

As part of the complex process that began in 2013, more than 1,000 shipbuilders defueled Enterprise’s eight nuclear reactors, inactivated its propulsion systems and prepared its hull for final tow.

Newport News Shipbuilding completed the inactivation base work in December 2017, and the government contracting office review and certification of the paperwork has just been completed.

The ship will remain at Newport News to complete post-inactivation work to prepare the ship for storage in the Hampton Roads area until a disposal plan is determined by the U.S. Navy.

E' la piu grande

E' unica della sua classe e la prima nucleare.

E' la piu' longeva nave della marina (si lo so, il primo e' un veliero.....)

The Norwegian-designed Naval Strike Missile has been officially selected to serve as the Littoral Combat Ship’s over-the-horizon anti-ship weapon, according to a Thursday Pentagon contract announcement (*).

The $14.8 million contract awarded to Raytheon will purchase the first round of missiles that will be incorporated on to the Freedom and Independence variants of the Littoral Combat Ships as part of Fiscal Year 2018 funds for OTH weapon research and development.

The value could grow to $847.6 million if all contract options are exercised.
